I adore Berlin for many reasons and love your biscuits. I was living there when the wall came down. School was cancelled for the day and we headed down to the border to hand out roses to the people coming over from the East. I have pieces of the wall that I broke off. Only as an adult have I appreciated the significance of the events while I lived there. I returned to Berlin for the first time in nearly 20 years a couple of years back and can’t believe how much it has regenerated.

I know how your husband must have felt going back. I spent a year in Freiburg as an au pair 15 years ago and am writing this right now from the family’s house as I’m back for a visit. I love Berlin too. Try watching the film Goodbye Lenin, I think you would enjoy it.
